South Africans immigrating to Australia and the UK
Back to News
As South Africans fear an uncertain future with rising petrol prices, electricity cuts and soaring crime rates, they are flocking to Australia and Britain in huge numbers. According to a recent article on IOL.co.za, the deputy director of visa services for the British High Commission said that they have had over 200 applications more this year.
South Africans are entering Britain under categories (such long-term work permits and highly skilled migrants) that can eventually lead to permanent settlement in the UK. Another reason why many South Africans are applying to live in Britain is because of ancestry, which makes it easier to move there.
Skilled white men flocking to the UK
The South African Institute of Race Relations released a shocking report claiming that huge numbers skilled white men were moving to the UK. Although the South African department of Home Affairs haven’t published immigration statistics since 2003, research agencies are using their own research for estimates. According to the institute’s figures, approximately 800 000 white South Africans have left the country with the majority of these people being economically active white men between 25 and 35.
