Canada’s Education System
Canada also has an excellent education system, with tuition being free up until grade 12. If you are moving to Canada and your children are thinking attending university there, know that university tuition is approximately ¼ of the price for people coming from a foreign country (if you have a permanent resident status). Here is a list of some of the top universities in Canada:
- University of Toronto – This is one of the largest universities in Canada and ranks high on numerous international lists of top universities in the world. The main campus (called St. George) is in Toronto’s Downtown district and the university is well known for its world class medical faculty.
- St Francis Xavier University – This University is situated in North-eastern Canada in Nova Scotia. Although this is also considered to be a leading academic institution, it is much smaller (offering just over 30 different academic programs).
- University of Waterloo – The University of Waterloo is widely considered to be one of the most innovative universities, offering a co-operative education program that allows students to apply what they’ve learned during their studies to real job situations.
- McGill University – Situated in Montreal, McGill offers 300 diffe3rent courses over 10 different faculties. Many international students are attracted by McGill’s study abroad programs.
